Visakha should be India’s 2nd capital if ‘T’ created
Visakhapatnam : Congress MP Undavalli Arun Kumar said that Visakhapatnam should be made the second capital of India, in case the state was divided to create Telangana.
Speaking to the media here on Thursday, he said Dr. B R Ambedkar, architect of India’s constitution, has long back proposed that Hyderabad should be the second capital of India. He has alleged that the Seemandhra leaders had neglected Visakhapatnam, because of their attachment to Hyderabad.
Undavalli claimed that the three small states created earlier were as per the vision of Dr. Ambedkar. Conceding that division becomes inevitable if people want it, Undavalli said the people who want to part should have majority in the Assembly. He has appealed to the leaders of both Telangana and Seemandhra to accept any decision taken in the best interests of the nation.
Claiming that there would be no harm even if the state were to be divided, Undavalli said the UPA government was striving to develop all the backward regions. He argued that a resolution of the Assembly was necessary for state bifurcation.
Lashes at TRS
Arun Kumar charged that the TRS leaders made it their main activity to abuse the Seemandhra people. He has alleged that they were telling lies to the people of Telangana and making them hate the Seemandhra people. He expressed anger that the Seemandhra people were being branded as plunderers. He said the TRS was provoking the people of Telangana and causing hatred between the people of the two regions.
Also criticizing the BJP which was promising Telangana state, Undavalli questioned why it had not created Telangana when it was in power, despite its promise of one vote and two states at Kakinada.
Claiming that the UPA had taken historic decisions during its nine year rule, he said the government was trying to totally eliminate corruption and give a transparent governance. He pointed out that Dr. Ambedkar had predicted that there would be differences between the north and the south.
