Cyberabad police told the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) that they have provided protection to IBM employee Chandrabala Vasireddy as directed by the Commission, but the same was later withdrawn at her request.

Several calls were made to Chandrabala by the CBI JD, which turned into a controversy. Hyderabad police told the SHRC that the case registered by Lakshminarayana was transferred to the CID.

Chandrabala approached the SHRC seeking protection to her life and personal liberty after Sakshi TV channel telecast news involving her on June 21.

The SHRC asked the police to provide her protection and also inform the Commission on the action taken. Both the Cyberabad and Hyderabad police got back to the SHRC on Monday.

Kukkatpally ACP M Malla Reddy told SHRC that a police constable and home guard were posted at Chandrabala’s house at Malaysia Township, KPHB, since June 22.

‘The constable and home guard were present at the house through day and night and followed her when she went outside.

On June 30, Chandrabala gave in writing that she does not require any protection and finds no threat from any person and requested the police to withdraw the picket from the house,’ Malla Reddy said.

As requested, the picket was removed, Malla Reddy said, adding they gave Chandrabala the contact numbers of the police officers concerned for any assistance and assured that they would react immediately to call.

City police commissioner Anurag Sharma said they have registered a case under various sections of IPC, IT Act and Indian Telegraphs Act based on a complaint by Lakshminarayana on June 26. and transferred it to CID on June 29.
