Bangalore, Jul 4: Parents of a hotel management graduate hurled a shocking allegation against the self-styled godman Swami Nithyananda. The couple claimed that Nithyananda detains their boy illegally in his ashram in Bidari near Bangalore.

The couple – Munnur Krishnamurthy and Jayanthi on Tuesday, Jul 4 moved the Karnataka High Court accusing Nithyananda of detaining their son Santhosh since 2009 and not allowing him to meet them.

Mr Krishnamurthy and his wife submitted their petition in the court on Tuesday and prayed the court to deliver such order which would direct police to produce their son before the court.

According to Mr Krishnamurthy, Santhosh became a disciple of Nithyananda in 2009. Initially he was in touch with his parents but later there were no information regarding Santhosh.

Recently, the godman was accused of mixing drugs in “holy” water in the oldest religious centre in South India – Madurai Adheenam in Tamil Nadu.

The Madras High Court on Friday, Jun 22 held the first hearing of the case where the government advocate claimed that the cops later registered a case under relevant sections against Nithyananda and his two other disciples.

Nithyananda, who recently has shifted his base from Bangalore, Karnataka to Madurai, always remain surrounded by controversy.

He was arrested for the first time in 2010 over a video where he allegedly was seen in a compromising position with a popular South Indian actress. Later, he was released on bail. But the ‘godman’ again was sent to prison in 2012.

This time he was accused of assaulting a media person and also accused in several other charges such as rape, sexual harassment and land encroachment. Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda ordered his arrest after a foreign national alleged that she was sexually abused at the hands of Nithyananda.

However, soon after the arrest order, Nithyananda went missing for 48 hours and later was arrested near Bangalore following his decision of surrendering himself before a court.

His ashram at Bidadi (near Bangalore), which was sealed following all these controversies, was unsealed later. Now the new allegations will rub salt on wounds of Nithyananda.
