Hyderabad : Arunachalam, CBI JD of Tamil Nadu has taken over as JD of the AP zone, in place of V V Lakshmi Narayana who after a seven-year stint in central service went back to Maharashtra, his home state.

Lakshmi Narayana was appointed for a five-year term in CBI in AP. But his services were extended in CBI for 2 years after he was promoted as JD from the post of DIG he was holding at the time of joining. Though Lakshmi Narayana was handling very high profile cases, he was not retained in AP as 7 years was the maximum period permissible for deputation. Though it was thought that Lakshmi Narayana’s deputation was extended by 2 years because of the sensitive cases he was handling, he himself made it clear, that he got the extension because of the promotion he got and not because of the cases.

Arunachalam who arrived here on Friday, took charge on Saturday.
