After PM, Sonia, Pawar targeted by violent Anna aides
Delhi Jul 30: A furious mob, who were the supporters of Anna Hazare i
n his protest against corruption in India, on Monday, Jul 30 gheraoed NCP leader Sharad Pawar’s residence in New Delhi.
Massive protest was shown by the group comprising men and women. Police tried to control the mob but they looked helpless in front of Anna Hazare’s supporters.
The protesting people blocked the road and declined to clear the front gate of Pawar’s house when police tried to disperse them.
Similar kind of protest was shown in front of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s residence at 7 RCR road in the national capital. The protesters did not even spare Congress President Sonia Gandhi. The agitators threw coal pieces into the premises besides defacing walls.
However, Anna defended all protesters saying that the protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence was a result of people’s anger but the anti-graft crusader disapproved of defacement of walls there.
“How long people will tolerate? But if something like this (defacement of walls) has happened, I apologise for that. The slogans (written on walls) were inappropriate. We should think before taking any such step as people are watching our agitation,” he told reporters.
In a letter to Team Anna, police said around 100 supporters had protested outside the Prime Minister’s residence, staged a snap demonstration and threw water bottles, lumps of coal, currency notes and coins inside the premises. “They were very aggressive and was removed from there only after great difficulty,” the letter said requesting Team Anna members not to make any provocative speeches.
Anna Hazare continued his indefinite fast for the second day on Monday at Jantar Mantar. This time Team Anna demanded an independent probe by Special Investigative Team (SIT) against many Union Cabinet ministers including the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.
