Vijayawada : YSR Congress Party honorary president Y.S. Vijayamma today exhorted party activists to strive to fulfill dreams of late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and goals set by party president Jaganmohan Reddy.

Addressing party activists in the Krishna-West Godavari districts’ regional conference in the Tankasala Kalyanamandapam in Enikepadu, Vijayamma said the ensuing local bodies’ elections were a good chance for the party workers to prove their mettle and leave no stone unturned for handsome win of the party by setting aside their petty differences.

Stating that there were no basic amenities in the villages in the State, Vijayamma said it was the golden chance for party workers to visit every village and serve them to their satisfaction. She said the awful situation in the villages would not have arisen had gram panchayat elections were held on time. She said the Congress government lacked sincerity to develop villages resulting in the lapse of funds earmarked by the State and Union governments. Hence, the villages were groaning under horrible conditions, she bemoaned.

Stating that toiling farmers were cursing their fate due to punitive fertilizer prices, Vijayamma asked the people as to why they should vote for the Congress government which was shirking its responsibilities. She also pointed out that late Dr YSR had not increased any prices during his regime.

Earlier, Vijayamma called on the Uttarakhand victims’ families and consoled them. Speaking on the occasion, she slammed the government for its miserable failure to provide timely assistance to them
