It could shock the nation that the death toll in Char dham havoc is likely to be over thousands as now it is revealed that over 90 dharmashalas have been washed away in the floods of Uttarakhand . So far only 160 are declared dead in the calamity at the bottom of Himalayas as most of tributaries of Ganga are in full slate.

Officials say going beyond Rudraprayag and Joshimath would be impossible for the next six months or even a year.” In fact the road and urban development in these parts of prime Hindu pilgrim centers is appalling as Government is allowing private operators to make hay and lynch the devotees.

Rescue operations in , hit until Thursday afternoon as helicopters faced bad weather, are now expected to speed up, as 16 roads that were blocked across the State were declared open on Thursday. According to the centre, while 50,422 pilgrims are still stranded, 33,192 were rescued by helicopters. Of the 26 helicopters pressed to relief operations 14 were earmarked for rescuing people from Kedarnath.

But now there is no statistics available about the residents of the Char dham who account for over 1.7 lakhs and most of them are either swept away or below debris.
