Telangana: Sonia Listens To Everybody

Published on Feb 05 2013 // Political News

Congress party president Sonia Gandhi seems to be totally confused as to what decision she should take on the vexatious Telangana issue which has become a major concern for her as the elections are fast approaching.

She is speaking to every senior leader to know their views on what would happen if the state is divided or kept united. She had a detailed talk with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, former CM and present governor of Tamil Nadu K Rosaiah and several other leaders on Monday. Later in the night, she had a telephonic talk with Governor E S L Narasimhan on the state of affairs in the state. Apart from Sonia, other senior leaders Sushil Kumar Shinde and A K Antony also spoke to Narasimhan on the Telangana issue. They summoned the Governor to Delhi on February 8 or 9.

Indications from New Delhi are that the party president would call for a meeting of senior party leaders from all the regions in New Delhi on February 8. Going by these developments, it is believed that a decision on Telangana might be taken any time by this week-end.
