Bashiruddin Babu Khan passes away

Bashiruddin Babu Khan, former Minister and the well known minority activist passed away, after a prolonged illness at his residence today. He was survived with a son and two daughters.

Namaz-e-Janaza will be offered at Royal Mosque, Bagh-e-Aam, Nampally followed by Asar. Burial will take place at Graveyard Road No.12, Banjara Hills.

His contributions for the rights of minorities have been widely recognized both nationally and internationally.

Mr. Babukhan was elected as MLA twice, in 1985 & 1994 and he was Cabinet Minister twice. He hold the portfolios of Higher Education, Major Industries, Tourism & Minorities Welfare during 1989, & 1994-1998. He was resigned as Minister when Telugu Desam Party supported BJP Government at Centre in 1998.

Mr. Bashiruddin Babukhan’s father, Mr. Khan Bahadur Abdul Karim Babukhan, had constructed and donated the present Congress Headquarters of A. P., “Gandhi Bhavan”, to the Congress Party, some 50 years ago.

His sad demise is major loss to the community. His services for the community is unforgettable.
