Hyderabad : All the Seemandhra ministers and Congress MLAs had decided to resign enmasse protesting against the unilateral division of the state to create Telangana.

Talking after the meeting, ministers T G Venkatesh, Sailajanath said they would be meeting the Speaker Nadendla Manohar later in the evening and submit their resignations in the Speaker’s format.

They also said they would be later meeting the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and submit their resignations to the cabinet.

Former minister J C Diwakar Reddy demanded that the centre should reconsider its demand to bifurcate the state. Stating that the situation in the Seemandhra region was going out of control, he said division of the state was an affront to the Gandhi/Nehru family.

Congress MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy said the division was because of the TDP and the YSR Congress. He said it was unfortunate that the statues of Indrira Gandhi who wanted Andhra Pradesh to be united for ever and Rajiv Gandhi who fought against terrorism were being burnt. He also disapproved criticism against the Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
