A shy and reticent homemaker YS Sharmila has set a new record in in walkathlon. She is all set to end her marathon in first week of August first week by completing her target of 3000 kms, says YSRC spokesman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy.

Sharmila undertook the padayatra to reach out to people and explain the political conspiracy behind the arrest and imprisonment of her brother and president of the YSR Congress Party Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.

Chandrababu, during his “Vastunna Meekosam” padayatra, had covered 2817 kms during 208 days.Sharmila crossed that mark on Tuesday trekking for 2,819 kms spread over 1,784 villages in 211 days and conducted as many as 194 Racchabanda meetings in 13 districts.

She began her padayatra from Idupulapaya in Kadapa district on October 18, last year but had to break her walk for seven weeks due to leg injury and surgery . Incidentally She is the first woman walker and 8th male waker who had crossed the 2500 kn milestone in India.
