SC quashes ‘T’ petition against Chandrababu

Published on Jul 04 2012 // Political News

In a major relief to Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, the Supreme Court on Tuesday quashed a petition filed by two Telangana lawyers accusing him of cheating the people of Telangana region by changing his stand on the bifurcation of State.

While delivering its verdict, the apex court observed it would not interfere in the politically-influenced matters.

It may be mentioned that two Telangana lawyers argued that Naidu had won considerable number of seats in Telangana in the 2009 elections by stating that his party was in favour of Telangana statehood.

However, Naidu had changed his stand after the December 9 statement of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, which amounts to betrayal of the people of the region, they argued.
