Prez campaign: Sangma in Mumbai today, Mukherjee on Jul 13
Mumbai, Jul 9: Mumbai would be hosting both the Presidential poll candidates this week, with NDA-supported candidate PA Sangma’s visit on Jul 10, followed by UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee’s visit on Jul 13.
Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly Eknath Khadse would formally welcome Sangma to the city on Tuesday morning. As part of his campaign, Sangma is expected to address a meeting of BJP legislators and is also scheduled to address a press conference.
Khadse said he would request the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) to support Sangma, who has been backed by the AIADMK, Biju Janata Dal and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with some other NDA allies.
On Jul 13, Mukherjee will be in Mumbai and is expected to meet Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray to express his gratitude for Sena’s support to his candidature. He will also address a gathering of legislators of Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in south Mumbai.
