NO TURNING BACK FOR CONGRESS ON TELANGANA: DIGVIJAY

Published on Oct 04 2013 // Featured, Political News

Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Friday categorically stated that his party would not reconsider the decision to support creation of the state of Telangana, and alleged that regional parties were on board regarding the decision earlier.

The Centre took the decision to form Telangana only after getting the consent of all the political parties including Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam, the Congress General Secretary said in New Delhi.
TDP or other parites may change their minds, but Congress would not, he added.
As in-charge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh, he had made it clear to all the concerned that final decision of the Congress High Command on the issue would be followed, Digvijay said.
He also hit out at BJP’s prime-ministerial nominee Narendra Modi over his `toilets first’ remark, saying that Modi was now seeking to change his image as a communal politician, but `a leopard cannot change its spots’.
Commenting on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s statement yesterday that the words he used against the ordinance on convicted lawmakers can be wrong but the sentiments were right, Digvijay said it only showed his (Rahul’s) honesty.
