KCR to Delhi on Aug 4: Ready for merger?
Hyderabad : TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao appears to have mentally prepared to merge the party as he promised earlier, in the Congress, say reports. It is learnt that he would be leaving to Delhi on August 4, a day ahead of the Parliament session, with some of his close associates.
Though party sources say that he would be going to the national capital a day in advance of the Parliament session, to personally thank the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for conceding Telangana, it is also being said that he might launch formal discussions on the merger. It is learnt that the Congress High Command has already sounded to KCR about his commitment to merge his party. However, he reportedly told the party leadership that he was ready to merge the party only after the Telangana bill gets the approval of the Parliament.
KCR is likely to meet the union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde during his present visit and urge him to hasten the process of introducing the Telangana bill in the Parliament. Parliament sessions would be beginning on August 5. Sources say that KCR would camp in the capital for a week and try to hasten the process. Sources however say that the Telangana bill was unlikely to come up in the present session.
As the TRS has suspended Vijaya Santi, KCR is the only MP of the party now. Earlier while meeting the central leaders, Vijaya Santi used to accompany him. KCR would now meet the central leaders who supported the Telangana cause alone and thank them.
