Timely intervention by a group of Ministers averted what could have turned out to be an embarrassing war of words between to senior Ministers during the Cabinet meeting.

According to sources, Panchayat Raj Minister K. Jana Reddy, who had already made his intention to rake up the “Bangaru Talli” girl child scheme issue of not being discussed in the Cabinet, reportedly said that spending of huge funds on Jalayagnam and Arogyasri scheme was not correct.

This prompted the Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Laskhmaiah to object to his utterances and pick up an argument on how the senior Minister could make such remarks on the pet scheme of late Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy.

The two reportedly argued on the issue and at one stage, Jana Reddy, who was sitting next to Lakshmaiah, reportedly got up to leave the hall after switching off the mike. Other Ministers intervened and pacified the them.
