Anna Hazare ready to join Indian politics!

New Delhi, Jul 27: Anna Hazare, who has so far rejected all speculations over his decision of joining politics, finally stated that he may join politics if people of the country want him to do so.

“If people say that Anna should enter politics, then I could think about it,” said the 75-year-old crusader whose team has been observing an indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi demanding investigation against 14 union cabinet ministers including PM Manmohan Singh.

Anna, however, told that he may give a political alternative instead of joining active politics. “I will not go into politics but I will give a political alternative to the people. I will not fight in elections,” said Anna.

“But if anyone fighting against corruption launches a political party, I will support it. I think the people are ready for an honest candidate,” added Anna during an interview with a TV channel.

While explaining his views about “fast and its effects on people”, Anna admitted that the impact of protest through holding fast might have lost its “magic”.

“People are coming to me and saying that only fasting or protest will not help and that I should give an alternative. But I do not think so right now,” stated the septuagenarian.

The activist, who began a new innings of protest against the government to bring the anti-corruption Lokpal Bill, also said, “The government too has been laggard in bringing in the Lokpal Bill. It has been two years since our protest for a strong Lokpal Bill began. May be the time has come to look at an alternative. But I still hope that the government will introduce it.”
