The Anti Corruption Bureau Court on Tuesday remanded suspended Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) judge Justice Pattabhi Ramarao, the accused in cash-for-bail case of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy in an illegal mining case, to judicial custody for 14 days.
The court gave this direction when the ACB sleuths produced him in the court after his arrest. Following the court directions, the officials shifted Pattabhi Ramarao to Cherlapally Jail under tight security.
Earlier, the ACB sleuths arrested Pattabhi Ramarao at Judges Colony and shifted him to Osmania General Hospital for medical tests.
After the completion of medical examination, Director General B Prasad Rao produced Ramarao before the ACB court.
ACB Director General B Prasad Rao said that Pattabhi Rama Rao was one of the key person in the cash-for-bail case.
It may be mentioned Justice Pattabhi Ramarao has allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 6 crore to grant bail to mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy in the illegal mining case of Obulalpuram Mining Corporation.
The ACB has already arrested retired Judge P V Chalapathi Rao and Pattabhirama Rao’s son T Ravi Chandra in the case and seized cash of Rs 1.6 crore from their possession.
