Karnataka: Gowda does a BSY, sets 3 conditions before resigning
Bangalore, Jul 10: While former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa gave sleepless nights to BJP High Command to remove DV Sadananda Gowda as the CM and replace his loyalist Jagadish Shettar for the post, Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda also seems to have learnt the trick of the trade after he put forward 3 conditions before the BJP High Command before resigning as the CM.
Gowda, who ruled the reign for 11 months, has demanded that he be made the Karnataka BJP Chief.
The second demand he put forth to the BJP High Command is that the current BJP Party President KS Eshwarappa or R Ashoka be made the Deputy Chief Minister of the state and the third condition is that social justice be done and equal ministerial births to their camp be given. According to Gowda, they would not attend the legislative meeting, which was scheduled to begin today at 10.30 am in The Capitol Hotel, Bangalore, if all these conditions were not met.
With political affairs getting murkier in the state, several MLAs have also shifted their loyalty towards Sadananda Gowda, who enjoys the support of at least 50 MLAs.
Meanwhile, BS Yeddyurappa, who succeeded in his efforts to remove Sadananda Gowda from his post, is fighting to ensure that the Deputy Chief Minister’s post will also be given to someone from his camp.
According to sources, Yeddyurappa has proposed three names for the post to the BJP High Command that includes- Shobha Karandlaje, Revu Naik Belmagi and Raju Gowda. Sources, however, say that the BJP High Command is not keen on creating the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
Senior BJP leaders Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh are already in the state.
While 20 MPs, 12 MLCs and 71 supporters of BSY have assembled in The Capitol Hotel, reports reveal that 46 MLAs, 8 MLCs will resign if Gowda’s demands are not met.
With Sadananda Gowda also playing his cards right, the state which is already witnessing a political turmoil is sure to witness another tumultuous affair for a long time.
