Protests continue against Telangana in Seema

Anantapur: Protests continued in the region on the 10th day with people holding demonstrations demanding reversal of the decision to carve out Telangana.

Muslims also took part in protests after prayers at Idgahs and mosques in many parts of Anantapur, Kadapa and Kurnool.

A large number of Muslims assembled at Idgahs on the outskirts of Gooty for prayers. Later, they took out a rally from the Idgah maidan to Gandhi Circle and offered special prayers for keeping the state united.

The Muslims also expressed solidarity at the relay fast venue of JACTO. Muslims also took out a rally at Peddavadugur shouting slogans for Samaikyandhra and opposing the decision to divide the state. The Muslims took out rallies at Rajampeta, Proddutur and other parts of Kadapa district expressing their solidarity with the protests. Muslims also joined protest rallies in many parts of Kurnool district.

Though, RTC run buses operated due to the relaxation in the bandh, services were limited to main routes. Buses did not ply in many villages. ATM centers and business establishments also opened for Ramzan eve.

Muthavali S.M. Shafiulla led the prayers at the Idgah at the Housing Board in Anantapur. MP Ananta Venkatrami Reddy, MLA B. Gurunath Reddy and many other leaders went to the Idgah and greeted Muslims.
