Two TDP members in Rajya Sabha were suspended for a day today for disrupting the House with their protests against the decision to form Telangana.
As soon as the House reassembled after a 15-minute adjournment following uproar over oil price hike, sloganeering TDP members C M Ramesh and Y R Chowdhary trooped into the Well holding placards.
Deputy Chairman P J Kurien requested them to go back to their seats with an assurance that they would be get time to speak on the issue later.
Zero Hour is the members’ right…You are only obstructing the right of the members, Kurien said and warned them that he would be forced to invoke a Rule that would make them to withdraw from the House.
As Ramesh and Chowdhary did not relent, Kurien invoked Rule 255 which states that the Chairman may direct any member whose conduct is in his opinion grossly disorderly to withdraw immediately from the Council and any member so ordered to withdraw shall do so forthwith and shall absent himself during the remainder of the day’s meeting.
Soon after, he adjourned the House for 15 minutes.
The two TDP members have been protesting against division of Andhra Pradesh since the beginning of the current session. Earlier too, they were asked to withdraw from the House.
