Three SSC students killed in road accident
Three SSC class students returning home soon after celebrating birthday of one of them were killed when an oil tanker rammed into the bike they were riding at Uppal bus stop the previous night, the police said on Friday.
The victims were aged about 16 years and studying in Sree Chaitanya Residential School at Medipally. Thursday was the birthday of one of them, P. Omkar, a resident of Medipally.
They attended special study classes at the school on Thursday night.
Later, they went to a nearby bakery and cut the cake to celebrate Omkar’s birthday. “We’re told Omkar got a motorcycle from his acquaintance to drop his friends G. Bhagwat Reddy and J. Hari Krishna at their houses in Bharatnagar colony,” the Uppal Inspector Laxmikantha Reddy said.
BIKE SKIDS
Omkar was riding past the oil tanker, when he saw a person crossing the road. As he slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting the pedestrian, the bike skidded and the trio fell down only to come under the tanker rear wheels. Death was instant for Omkar. Reddy died on the way to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, while Krishna succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the early hours of Friday.
Omkar’s father P. Krishna is a security guard with the Central Power Research Institute. Reddy’s father Shankar Reddy is a lorry driver. Krishna’s father is a farmer and from Atmakur mandal of Nalgonda district. Heart-rending scenes were witnessed at the Gandhi hospital morgue where the bodies were shifted and handed over to their respective families after an autopsy.
