Telangana: Andhra Pradesh burning but Sonia keeps silence
Hyderabad, Jun 29: Many Congress leaders and ministers in Andhra Pradesh are shocked as the supremo of the party – Sonia Gandhi has not clarified her stand on the burning Telangana issue.
When people in the state, especially in Telangana region, are expecting that the central government may take a final decision solving the issue, Mrs Gandhi remains tight-lipped.
The state Congress ministers and leaders recently rushed to New Delhi to meet Mrs Gandhi. After their meeting, the ministers informed that the AICC chief heard them patiently and even jotted down details of the present situation in Telangana but did not take any decision.
A leader has been quoted as saying, “The AICC president is keeping the cards close to her chest as far as key issues in the state are concerned.”
Recently, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and Praja Rajyam Party supremo Chiranjeevi met Mrs Gandhi in the national capital. However, they reported to have discussed the reasons of poll debacle where Jaganmohan Reddy’s YSR Congress won 15 out of 18 assembly seats, while Congress managed to get only two.
