Jagan & Sonia to wipe out TDP from Telangana & AP?
Hyderabad, Jul 5: YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy and Congress President Sonia Gandhi are the most dangerous threats to Telugu Desam Party (TDP). TDP sources feel that the party will lose its ground in the state if the central government does not take its decision on Telangana soon.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi has not taken any decision on Telangana yet. Her complete silence shocked many. Even Congress leaders from Andhra Pradesh were surprised to see her stony silence on Telangana. But critics smell foul.
According to reports, TDP will not get any support and vote during the state assembly election in 2014 if UPA government does not finalise its long-pending decision on Telangana.
The recent by-poll result proved that Jaganmohan and his party have won the hearts of people in AP. However, other party leaders claimed that Jagan’s victory in the by-poll was a result of money power and sympathy.
But critics insist that after emergence of Jagan as YSR Congress supremo, TDP will get a chance in 2014 election only if government approves to make a separate state of Telangana.
According to sources, TRS may join Congress if TDP’s demand of separate Telangana is met. Many claimed that Jagan may also return to Congress and if such situation occurs then it will be an easy fight for TDP.
A senior leader from Andhra Pradesh believe, “This (decision on Telangana) would decide the future of the YSR Congress and the TRS. If Telangana state is created TRS will merge with the Congress and in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, a situation may arise where Jagan might be interested in merging his party with the Congress which will be nothing but a home coming for him. In such a situation, there would be only two parties – Congress and the TDP and we know how to fight Congress in both the states.”
A TDP leader has been quoted as saying, “The state bifurcation issue has created a crisis in our party. The leadership fails to assess its seriousness. If it remains dogged about being ambiguous on the issue, it will have to pay a heavy price in Telangana region in the next elections.”
