Hyderabad, Jul 17: YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy finally got permission to cast his vote for the crucial presidential elections which would be held on Jul 19.

The Nampally Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday, Jul 17 permitted Jagan to cast his vote in the election from Hyderabad assembly.

Jagan, who has currently been lodged in Chanchalguda jail, earlier had filed his petition in the court seeking permission to participate in the poll.

By casting his vote, Jagan can directly take an active part in the election which will decide the fate of Pranab Mukherjee and PA Sangma – the two nominees who have participated in the race to Raisina Hill.

According to norms, Kadapa MP Jagan should cast his vote at the polling station in Parliament in New Delhi as he is a parliamentarian. But he will not be able to do so as he has been sent to jail over his alleged role in several corruption cases in Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier media reports had suggested that Jagan decided to vote in favour of UPA’s nominee Pranab Mukherjee and not for PA Sangma. A formal announcement regarding the same is expected to be announced soon.
