Ramdev takes dig at Team Anna over Modi remark; says he is answerable only to Anna
Yoga guru turned anti-corruption activis t Baba Ramdev on Monday reacted sharply to a Team Anna member’s jibe over his visit to Gujarat, saying they had no authority to question his meetings and movements.
Ramdev had offered a clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, when he said that he has not come across any of the BJP leader’s wrongdoings. He was addressing a gathering at an award event organised in Ahmedabad as Modi shared the dais with him.
Ramdev’s clean chit to Modi had triggered an outrage in the Team Anna camp on Sunday with a member, Sanjay Singh, questioning their closeness, even asking him to clear his stand. However, Hazare himself had remained silent on the issue.
Reacting to Team Anna member’s criticism, Ramdev said, “They cannot question my movements, where do I go or I don’t.”
He, however, said there could be differences between Anna Hazare and his associates but there were no differences between him and the Gandhian. “I must answer if Anna asks me anything, but not to anyone else,” he said.
Ramdev reiterated that crowd was a factor to make any agitation successful.
Meanwhile, Team Anna member Kumar Vishwas said on Monday that remark on Ramdev-Modi was Sanjay Singh’s personal thinking because there were so many questions being raised about the Gujarat chief minister. He said Ramdev was a respected citizen of the country and he could go anywhere and meet anybody.
Vishwas said Ramdev should himself be responsible for whatever he does. He insisted that the stirs against corruption led by Hazare and Ramdev should be integrated.
