Eggs, chappals thrown at VH in Tirupati

Tirupati : Rajya Sabha member and senior Congress leader V Hanumanta Rao who came to Tirumala along with his family members to have Darshan of Lord Venkateswara got stuck on the hills as Samaikyandhra agitators gathered at Alipiri to confront him.

Police advised Hanumanta Rao to remain in Tirumala until they clear the agitators from Alipiri through which his vehicle has to pass.

Samaikyandhra agitators said they just wanted to give a rose to VH and ask him if he was representing Andhra or Telangana state in the Rajya Sabha.

A tense situation prevailed at Alipiri as hundreds of agitators gathered on knowing about VH’s visit to Tirumala.

When VH got down from the Tirumala hills amid tight security, agitators tried to halt his vehicle. Police had to resort to lathi charge. VH took a rose from one of the agitators. He told the agitators that their leaders could represent their grievances to the Antony committee.

 

Even in the heat, VH made provocative remarks. He said government employees should leave Hyderabad. He told the media that Seemandhra residents would however be allowed to live in the capital. He alleged that the AP NGOs strike was being run by the Seemandhra leaders.

 

Enraged by the remarks of the MP, agitators threw eggs and footwear at his vehicle.
