Damp squib Seemandhra Ministers meet

Published on Jul 24 2013 // Featured, Political News

The ministers from Seemandhra are scheduled to meet today to discuss the strategy to be adopted to stop the division of the state which they apprehend is imminent. The damp squib meeting may end up only deciding dates on another Chalo Delhi rally, they say.

With leaders from Kurnool and Anantapur districts have already announced their ‘no-objection’ to the proposal to Rayala-Telangana not much heat is anticipated in the Seemandhra meet.

However, Andhra leaders such as Ghanta Srinivasa Rao, minister for infrastructure, are still fierce opponents of the division of the state and are likely to suggest some serious action plan to make a last ditch effort to stall the process. A proposal to resign en masse to protest though unlikely will also come up for discussion.

Every one says the enthusiasm exhibited in December 2009 is conspicuously absent among the Seemandhra lobby. Aghast at the unanticipated development, the central government immediately backtracked on its assurance to initiate the T-formation process.

Minor irrigation minister TG Venkatesh is trumpeting the Seemandhra lobbty but all th ministers and legislators plans to do is to decide on organising a Chalo Delhi rally.
