BJP pulls down Team Anna’s chain

New Delhi, Jun 18: BJP on Monday lashed out at Team Anna saying it should not try to become a “super constitutional authority”, after it asked for an independent probe into the allegations made by it against UPA presidential nominee, Pranab Mukherjee.

“No one should attempt to become a super constitutional authority by compelling anybody before contesting election to take a no-objection certificate from them. It is unfortunate that such type of sweeping statements are given, which do not bode well for their cause,” said Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, BJP vice president.

Team Anna member, Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday, hit at Pranab Mukherjee saying that the candidate for Presidential post must be “above board”, while Manish Sisodia sought an investigation into the allegations against Mukherjee.

“It is not possible to take an NOC from civil society before contesting any election…It is not appropriate to make such type of statements,” said Naqvi.

Team Anna had levelled allegations against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Pranab Mukherjee and 13 others and demanded that SIT probe charges against them. The same was, however, rejected by the government.
