‘Bangaru Thalli’ brings rift in cabinet
Hyderabad, May 2: Even as the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has started announcing a series of welfare schemes in view of the ensuing elections, he is inviting the wrath of his cabinet colleagues as he has not been consulting anyone.
The latest scheme ‘Bangaru Thalli’ brought the differences to the climax.
The Chief Minister announced this ‘Bangaru Thalli’ scheme in Sangareddy, Medak district a couple of days ago. Under the scheme the government deposits money in the name of newborn girl children for their education. He invited the wrath of his colleagues as soon as he announced this scheme. Even the PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana who is also a member of the cabinet told the media that he did not know anything about the scheme. When media asked him about the scheme, he said he has to study the scheme before responding. He has diplomatically said that he was not consulted.
Another senior minister K Jana Reddy warned the Chief Minister against announcing schemes without discussion in the cabinet. He said he would raise the issue of announcing schemes without cabinet approval, in the next cabinet meeting.
Dissident minister D L Ravindra Reddy also expressed anger that the Chief Minister had not bothered to consult any of his colleagues before announcing the ‘Bangaru Thalli’ scheme. He also was skeptical about implementation of the scheme, stating that some earlier schemes for girl children like ‘Balika Samrakshana’ were not implemented earnestly. He said he would appeal to the people to chase Congress leaders if ‘Bangaru Thalli’ was not implemented effectively.
It is learnt that senior ministers are preparing to accost the Chief Minister about his highhanded style of functioning and make his unilateral decisions an issue in the next cabinet meeting.
