Toofan becomes example for September big releases
Toofan was released amidst immense fan fare. The expectations were so high that audiences couldn’t enjoy it as a standalone film. But that’s not the only reason. Seemandhra protests and AP politics have played a huge role in even fans being unable to make a difference.
Many viewers of star films hail from the interiors of the state and usually take a longer journey than the city dwellers to watch their favorite actor/actress. With buses also off the roads in protest against a state bifurcation, theaters are running empty. Threats to theaters have exacerbated the situation further.
Toofan became an example that justified many postponements. The content of the film may have suffered, but there is also very little interest among people to venture out to the theaters in the present scenario. Thus, Charan’s big release became a scapegoat that frightened off other big releases.
Buzz is that Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s Attarintiki Daredi may release on the 26th only if the APSRTC strike ends on the 21st. Even the release of Jr NTR’s Ramayya Vasthavayya is a little doubtful after Toofan failed to sustain the ripples. A stone was dropped, but it sank.
