Hyderabad: Ace director SS Rajamouli’s last directorial venture Eega is a critically acclaimed Telugu movie, which had a super run at the Box Office and become the Blockbuster. The Sudeep-Nani-Samantha starrer has also been screened at the L’Étrange, Sundance and Chennai International Film Festivals. Now, the movie has bagged two National Film Awards, which were announced in New Delhi today (March 18). Basu Chatterjee, the chairman of the selection committee, has announced the 60th National Film Awards at a press conference in the capital city. The romantic fantasy fictional film Eega, which revolved around the revenge of a fly, has bagged the award for Best Regional Film in Telugu. Besides this, the movie has garnered another award – Best Special Effects. Earlier, Eega was shortlisted for India’s Oscar nomination. Wen everyone was thinking that it would become final selection for Oscar nomination, the movie was omitted in the middle, which had left many with shock and surprise. But the latest recognition to Eega from National Awards would surely bring smile on their faces. However, 1940 Lo Oka Gramam, which was directed by Narsimha Nandi, was last Telugu movie to get the Best National film Award in 2009. Before this, Show, Aithe, Swarabhishekam, Bommalata and Kamli had received this honour earlier. Now, Eega has become the latest to win this award.
