Launching his Southern election campaign from here, Narendra Modi appealed to all non- Congress parties to come together to dislodge the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre and to end “dynastic” rule.In a bid to woo fresh allies, the Gujarat Chief Minister, who is the BJP’s national election campaign chief, made a specific appeal to Telugu Desam(TDP), which has inherited the legacy of late N T Rama Rao, a former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, saying it was its duty to see that the government at the Centre be made Congress-free.

“Congress party is a burden on this nation. Today I want to remember NTR when I come here. NTR did service not only to Andhra but the whole of India when he gave boost to anti- Congress politics. It was NTR’s efforts that paved the way for formation of a non-Congress government at the Centre.BJP has always supported the formation of Telangana but not at the cost of Seemandhra: Modi in Hyderabad”I appeal to all political parties in Andhra Pradesh here, what can be a supreme tribute to NTR than providing a non-Congress government,” said Modi while addressing a huge gathering at the Lal Bahadur stadium here organised by BJP.

“All those who claim NTR’s legacy, their first duty is to do everything to bring a non-Congress government. It should be their duty to do everything in this regard. I am confident that Andhra Pradesh’s political parties will not leave any stone unturned to bring a non-Congress government and end this dynastic rule,” he said.Addressing TDP specifically, a party which has inherited NTR’s legacy, Modi said, “It is their duty also to fulfill NTR’s dreams.”TDP, headed by N Chandrababu Naidu, is a former constituent of BJP-led NDA and supported the Vajpayee government from 1998 to 2004. The TDP severed its alliance with BJP after the 2004 election defeat.

“Desh mein Congress mukt bharat ki hawa ban chuki hai (An atmosphere has been created for a Congress-free India),” Modi said.Modi ended his 45-minute speech taking a leaf out of US president Barack Obama by making the crowd chant “yes we can”.The Gujarat Chief Minister also took the opportunity to praise L K Advani, who had sulked over his elevation as campaign committee chief.He said Advani went across the country in a Yatra seeking to bring back the black money stashed away abroad. The government rejected the demand.Hailing the Public Distribution System implemented by the Raman Singh government in Chhattisgarh, he said if only the Centre adopted it, there was no need for a food security bill.He also complimented his colleague Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for his schemes aimed at benefiting girl child.

The names of both Shivraj Singh and Raman Singh have been thrown in as alternatives to Modi earlier.”Congress has done nothing inclusive only excluded people.Today the word Inclusive Growth is popular. Was this word there earlier? Why has it to be used today? Today Congress has made condition of poor such they have to talk of food security,” he said.Modi also praised the governance model of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha of AIADMK in whom the NDA sees a possible ally Maintaining that development is the only way forward to solve all problems, Modi said, “Congress refuses to walk on path of development because they cannot answer the people.”Holding that corruption has ruined the nation, Modi said, “There is nothing left where Congress has not done corruption.”

Alleging that Government sitting in Delhi is “not serious on any issue” and is “not concerned about the nation”, he asserted that no power can stop the ouster of this government.Modi ‘borrows’ Obama’s election slogan to kick off BJP’s campaign”You are concerned about India. “What are these actions from the Congress party, which are creating wedge between two brothers,” he asked, maintaining that while he always supported the creation of Telangana he had also promised “no injustice will happen to Seemandhra.”

Cong created hostility between Telangana and Seemandhra: Modi

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday tried to do a balancing act on the issue of division of Andhra Pradesh saying that both Telangana and Seemandhra are equally important for BJP.Though Andhra Pradesh had contributed the highest number of MPs for Congress to come to power at the Centre, Congress ended up creating only hostile atmosphere between the two regions of the state, he said.Modi was addressing a massive public meeting here, his first campaign rally since his anointment as BJP’s poll campaign committee chief.He recalled how NDA government under Atal Bihari Vajpayee created three new states of Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and Chattisgarh without any hostilities in any region.The chief minister wondered why a new capital city has not been built for Seemandhra since 2004 when Congress came to power.

He said BJP favoured development and growth of cities in Seemandhra even better than Hyderabad.Observing that Telugu-speaking people lived in perfect harmony in Gujarat cities like Surat and Ahmedabad, he questioned why Seemahdhra and Telangana cannot live in peace and without animosity towards each other.The Congress’ decision to carve out Telangana from Andhra Pradesh has sparked protests in the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseems regions with proponents of united Andhra Pradesh have been holding strident protests to oppose creation of the separate state.
