New Delhi, Jul 25: It seems that Team Anna has become helpless suddenly. They can not reveal those proofs against Pranab Mukherjee as they had claimed earlier. Though they accused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with 14 senior ministers but can not take Pranab Mukherjee’s name in that list.

According to the Constitution of India, no one can hurl any legal allegations against the First Citizen, i.e. the President of India. Citing the rule of the constituency, Team Anna dropped Mr Mukherjee’s name from the list of the “corrupt ministers” as he as the president took oath on Wednesday, Jul 25, the day when Team Anna decided to release proofs against him.

Team Anna member, Arvind Kejriwal said, “According to the Constitution, the President has immunity against any investigation. We have given evidence against Mukherjee to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi two months ago.”

Team Anna launched their indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Wednesday. At the background of the stage Team Anna posted a collage photographs of 14 ministers including the PM against whom they want investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The collage also had the photograph of Mr Mukherjee but the anti-corruption activists covered his image with a cloth claiming that the Congress has “put a chadar (veil)” to protect the former finance minister.

Kejriwal, who is also an RTI activist, also claimed that Mr Mukherjee could not have become President if the Lokpal bill had been passed.
