Political leaders have no ‘Spines’: Mamata on Facebook
Kolkata, Jul 7: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today fired a salvo at ‘so-called political leaders having no spines’ and suggested ‘research’ on the phenomenon.
“Now-a-days, I am not surprised, when I see growing number of so-called political leaders having no spines. In my opinion, it has become a potential area of doing research on this aspect,” Banerjee said in her latest Facebook post.
Mamata’s criticism was believed to have stemmed from several issues such as her party Trinamool Congress’ strained ties with ally Congress, particularly over the Presidential elections and the latest being Union Home Minister P Chidambaram’s open criticism of the law and order in West Bengal under the new dispensation.
She said “age-old cherished ideals, courage and closest links with the roots of common people of the country are not found. That is why, they have become weak and afraid to fight for the cause of the common people and unveil the truth.
“I believe in the responsibility of the leadership to put demands of the people foremost and to grow as human beings. I do hope and expect young generation to realise the present state of present leadership qualities, devoid of ideals and values.”
Appealing to the younger generation to ‘awake, fight, stand up and instill a spirit of mind without fear’, the Trinamool Congress supremo said “let us dedicate ourselves for the common people.”
