Jailed Jagan keen to vote for Pranab, Sangma in Prez poll
Hyderabad, Jul 11: YSR Congress supremo and Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy seems to be very keen on casting his vote in the presidential poll which will be held on Jul 19.
Jagan, who is currently lodged in Chanchalguda jail in Hyderabad, urged the Election Commission (EC) seeking permission to vote from the polling booth in the assembly building in Hyderabad.
By casting his vote, Jagan can directly take an active part in the election which will decide the fate of Pranab Mukherjee and PA Sangma – the two nominees who have participated in the race to Raisina Hill.
However, Jagan is not alone in seeking special permission from the EC. Former Karnataka Tourism Minister and mining baron Janardhana Reddy too has joined Jagan.
The former tourism minister, who is also in jail over his alleged role in illegal mining scams in Karnataka, also requested the EC to permit him to cast his vote at the assembly polling station citing his deteriorating health condition.
According to norms, both Jagan and Janardhana Reddy should cast their votes at the polling station in Parliament in New Delhi as both of them are parliamentarians. Janardhana Reddy is now an MLC of Bellary, Karnataka.
