Shruti’s Ammulu ghost rises from Ramayya ashes

Published on Oct 16 2013 // Movie News

Shruti Hassan has been having the last laugh after all the hype surrounding a ‘small’ role cleared out. She has not only bagged an impactful role, she even ran away with all the complements for the film. No other actor from Ramayya Vasthavayya quite reached the level of popularity Shruti is enjoying because of Ammulu. Call it luck or hardwork, but Shruti has turned around her unlucky tag to become the most important character in Ramayya Vasthavayya, which has been facing a lot of heat for its excessive violence in the second half. And it is in this ill-fated second half that Shruti’s Ammulu lives and dies. However, her ghost has risen to inject some positivity into the highly criticized film. Samantha looks pretty of course, but it was Shruti’s performance that everyone is talking about. Even director Harish Shanker managed to dodge the harsh bullets by praising the slim actress to the skies. At the Ramayya Vasthavayya press meet, he simply stuck to the film’s positives, which is Shruti of course. Jr NTR was also appreciated for his performance but the high expectations played major spoilsport for the film. What was portrayed as a romantic action thriller turned out to be majorly an action thriller. Dil Raju also felt disappointed that Ramayya Vasthavayya title created wrong expectations in viewer’s minds. Still, Shruti Hassan’s presence at the press meet gave a positive feel to the grim proceedings.
