Apple made an announcement on Monday that it sold a record nine million iPhones in the three days subsequent to launching two new versions of the smartphone. Furthermore,  Apple chief executive Tim Cook in a statement expressed that this is their best iPhone yet which crossed beyond  nine million new iPhones sold making it a new record for first weekend sales.

The figures from Apple appeared to challenge the power of prophecy from its critics that the company is losing momentum in the smartphone market and in innovation.
