YSR Congres honorary president Y S Vijayamma on Tuesday demanded national status for Pranahita-Chevella Srujala Sravanti project.

Addressing a mammoth gathering at Kagazanagar in Adilabad district, she came down heavily on the government for its negligence on the irrigation projects. She promised that Jagan will complete the project after he became chief Minister. Irrigation water crisis in Telangana would be solved to maximum extent with completion of the project.

Stating that the Congress government has no determination on the farmers’ welfare, Vijayamma said the input subsidy for farmers was not being disbursed and it was paying deaf ears on the alarming farmers’ suicides. The government has created hype on SC, ST sub-plan, but the Dalits would not be benefited by it.

The YSRCP leader said “Amma Hastham” turned out to be a “Maya hastham” (Magic hand) and the government should clarify where it had created jobs under “Rajiv Yuvakiranalu.” It had promised 15 lakh jobs and questioned who had benefited by the scheme. She called upon the party cadre to work as army men and welcomed some leaders who joined the party in her presence.

On Thursday Konatala Ramakrishna, YSRCP lwill organise “Praja teerpu” (people’s verdict) from April 5. On two issues – current supply and power tariffs – in every major panchayat village, mandal and district and announce the people’s verdict on l April 14, the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar.

Ramakrishna said a massive protest programme was proposed on April 9, the day when late YS Rajasekhar Reddy began his Praja Prasthanam in 2003.

The YSRCP leader said handloom weavers and the farmers were committing suicides as they were unable to pay the current bills. The YSRCP would rededicate its commitment to YSR’s dream of people’s welfare Ramakrishna said adding that the Left parties also had extended their support to the YSRCP agitation.

YSR Congress party president and Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Sharmila’s ‘Maro Praja Prastanam’ padayatra entered its 103rd day on Wednesday.
She is expected to begin her walkhaton from Rajarajeswaripet in Vijayawada today. She would cover Rajarajeswaripet High School, Pipula Raod, Prakashnagar, Shanti nagar, Krishna hotel centre and then reach Dhaba Kotlu centre, where she is expected to hold a public meeting. Sharmila will then visit Government press, Shivaji cafe and BRTS road.
The YSRCP leader would retire for the night at the Gymkhana grounds.

YSRCP activists on Wednesday burnt the effigy of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at Ameerpet alleging the latter’s apathy in redressing the demand of textile traders in the State.

The YSRCP workers led by Vellala Rammohan expressed their solidarity to the textile traders, who were agitating for removal of VAT (Value Added Tax). They said the Government was showing adamant attitude towards the traders though they were on the strike state-wide.
